History
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University was established in accordance with the Council of Ministers Decree No. 2012/3209, published in the Official Gazette dated June 23, 2012, issue 28332. It was founded to meet the need for veterinarians in the Thrace region of Turkey and to scientifically enhance the livestock potential, thereby contributing to the national economy.
Our Faculty began admitting undergraduate students in the 2014-2015 academic year, and the first graduates were conferred in 2019. At the Higher Education Executive Board meeting of the Council of Higher Education held on February 20, 2013, our Faculty was structured into five departments: Basic Sciences, Preclinical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Food Hygiene and Technology, and Zootechnics and Animal Nutrition, with a total of 20 academic disciplines, and started its educational activities accordingly. Additionally, the Faculty continues its postgraduate education and training with the Doctoral Program in Veterinary Artificial Insemination, Obstetrics, and Gynecology (interdisciplinary), as well as the Thesis-Based Master's Program in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology.
